Every observation has an age
A report describes what someone saw at a particular station and time. Prices can change afterwards. A low figure from yesterday and a price reported moments ago are not necessarily a like-for-like comparison.
Compare the same products
Check the fuel and grade. Do not mix petrol, diesel and premium products. Prices per litre, per kilowatt-hour and for a complete service are different measures. A prominent roadside price may also be subject to special conditions.
Read membership conditions
Check whether a price applies to everyone or only selected customers. A personal discount is not the ordinary pump price. If its conditions cannot be represented accurately in a report, avoid submitting a price other drivers cannot obtain.
Report what you actually see
Stop safely before using your phone. Check the station, location and product, enter every digit and check the decimal separator. Report an observation rather than an estimate. Use the app's correction or contact options if something is wrong.
Account for uncertainty
Buying 20 litres at 0.30 kr/l less saves only 6 kr. An old report is weak justification for a special journey. MileHalo displays reported prices; that does not mean every station has a current price or that reports are guaranteed live prices.
